Detectives
The Detective Division of the Newport Police Department is charged to conduct follow-up investigations that involve serious crimes.  Most of the investigations revolve around person crimes such as sex abuse, serious assaults and robberies.  These crimes at times require investigations that are complex and technical in nature.  Detectives have received advanced training to include computer investigations, sex abuse investigations and blood spatter investigation, to name a few.

About our Detectives
The Newport Police Department currently has three detectives.  Two detectives are general duty detectives.  (There is an additional detective position open at this time).  These detectives conduct the follow-up investigations from calls received by patrol officers. The third detective investigates drug crimes and is assigned to the Lincoln Interagency Narcotics Team (LINT).
